Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of First-Year Experience and Student Success Initiatives, the Student Success Advisor is responsible for support throughout the student’s college experience. This includes (but is not limited to) advising regarding degree completion and supporting students with appropriate resources to aid in their success. In addition, the Student Success Advisor executes strategies to assist in student persistence and retention. As a member of the Student Success team, the Student Success Advisor works collaboratively with other members of the Marymount Manhattan community.
Salary: $58,500
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide exceptional and innovative advising services to prospective and current students, individually or in groups, about degree requirements, course registration, academic policies, and procedures.
- Maintain and update student records and data, including documentation of student interactions, in relevant institutional systems accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of student success initiatives, workshops, orientations, and other programs.
- Foster retention among identified groups of students through activities such as academic coaching, mentoring, and other support programs.
- Collaborate with the Asst. Director to develop and modify the first-year experience curriculum (LINK 101 Course).
- Open to teaching a section of the LINK 101- First-Year Experience Course.
- Serve as liaison between academic college/departments and advising staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Student Success Advising Team, faculty, and staff to promote, support, and implement the goals of the Office and student enrollment and retention initiatives.
- Conduct periodic analysis of Student Success Advisement-related data/processes with the goal of continuously improving the campus experience.
- Serve on committees as appropriate to facilitate student success.
- Perform all other functions as assigned by the Student Success Advising team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Higher Education or related fields
- At least 2 years of experience in the area of Academic Advising
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work well with individuals from diverse social and economic backgrounds
- Demonstrated experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data
- Superb oral and written communication skills
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Brightspace, Canvas, or Blackboard
- Experience using student information systems
- Public speaking/ presentation experience
- Some experience with program development
- Ability to collaborate with members of the Student Success Advising team, faculty, administrators, and other staff members as well as work independently
- Ability to make balanced judgments and decisions
- Superb time management and project management skills
