Job Summary:

 

Pyramid Global Hospitality is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to join the team at Black Desert Resort. Our Sommelier will play a crucial role in enhancing our guests' dining experience by curating an exceptional wine program and providing expert wine service. This position requires a deep understanding of wine, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to educate both staff and guests on our diverse wine offerings.

 

Job Specification:

  • Location: Onsite at Black Desert Resort
  • Shift & Schedule: Year-Round / Full Time
  • Salary Range: $22/hr. (individual compensation decisions are based on experience and qualifications)

Job Responsibilities:
  • Curate and maintain an extensive and diverse wine list that complements the resort's culinary offerings.
  • Provide exceptional wine service to guests, including recommendations, wine pairings, and tastings.
  • Educate staff and guests on wine selections, proper wine service, and food pairings.
  • Develop and conduct wine training programs for restaurant staff to enhance their knowledge and service skills.
  • Assist in managing the wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and organizing wine stock.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure harmonious pairing of wine with menu items.
  • Stay current with wine trends, regions, and innovations to continuously update the wine program.
  • Foster relationships with wine suppliers and negotiate purchasing agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to wine storage and service.
  • Contribute to creating memorable dining experiences by offering personalized and knowledgeable wine service.
  • Ability to educate and inspire both guests and staff about wine.
  • Excellent organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Proficiency in wine pairing and menu planning.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • Certified Sommelier level 1 (Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of wines, regions, varietals, and winemaking processes.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Compensation details: 22 Hourly Wage
