Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

The Energy Storage Senior Analyst will support all aspects of energy storage business development, including market research and analysis, development of recommendations to management, technical analysis, detailed financial analysis, grant/incentive application management, and development of presentation and other materials.

JOB LOCATION AND REPORTING TO

This position will be based in either our San Francisco office or remote. The Senior Analyst reports to the Business Development Manager and works closely with the Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Development, and Management teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate customer savings propositions by analyzing energy data, evaluating utility rates, and conducting energy storage optimizations. Support sales managers during utility analysis and customer contract negotiations.
  • Perform and/or support detailed financial analysis of energy storage markets and projects, including proposing ways to increase project revenue streams or reduce costs.
  • Manage grant/incentive/rebate applications, maintain detailed knowledge of grant/incentive/rebate eligibility and application process.
  • Design and prepare financial reports, including budget reports, sales forecasts, and project portfolio status reports.
  • Support the preparation of internal and external presentations and proposals, including management of reports, presentations, RFP responses, and analytics.
  • Support key vendor relationships and maintain a document library for energy storage, including understanding of technologies, providers, developing markets, and potential product offerings.
  • Assist in tracking and evaluating emerging regulatory rulings and assessing potential for market viability for energy storage, assist in developing recommendations for new market entry.
  • Interface closely with Finance, Development, Engineering, Legal, and Management to help guide projects forward quickly and efficiently.
  • Increase effectiveness of staff and tools by recognizing opportunities for development and creating new systems and structures.

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Prior experience in utilities, renewable energy, and/or energy storage a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree required and Master's Degree preferred
  • Strong computational and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English
  • Ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment
  • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage diverse relationships and multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • Creativity and critical thinking skills to tackle a variety of challenges from the industry level to client-specific
  • Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is primarily sedentary in nature and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk in front of a computer. This position requires ~10% of travel when applicable.
