Insomniac Events is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Entertainment Makeup Artist to join our Entertainment team with focus on costume and character makeup. This position reports to the Entertainment Director. Responsibilities include executing makeup looks styled to an approved design for performers of events, duplicating work regularly within a team to ensure conformity and consistency, cooperating with lead artist or director to achieve desired effects, working closely with performers during show runs, rehearsals, and preparations, reading entertainment department look books, ensuring makeup looks are photo ready, assisting team members with quick changes, performing touch ups during events, maintaining a safe working environment, documenting specific looks, performing other tasks as assigned, proper cleanup and storage of makeup items, and possibly using prosthetics, SFX techniques, and airbrush equipment. Expectations include fast pace, attention to detail, cooperation, teamwork, time management, initiative, stress tolerance, independence, dependability, and complex problem solving. Qualifications include a diploma in cosmetology or at least 3 years of relevant experience, hands-on knowledge of makeup and tools, detailed knowledge of products and techniques, good interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of live entertainment and Insomniac brands, experience in entertainment, theater, theme parks or live events is a plus, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to stand for long periods, and some travel may be requested. Work environment includes tolerance for loud noise, busy environments, drastic temperature climates, and willingness to travel during holidays, evenings, and weekends.
